Thanjavur Medical College ( TMC ) is a Multi Super Specialty tertiary care centre. It comprises of two hospital campus.
With the advent of super specialty departments, advanced and complicated cases like laparoscopic surgery, Neuro surgery, Vascular surgery, etc., are being done. The average number of cases operated per year has also exponentially increased. All calls from IMCU, ICCU, Toxicology ICU, SICU, Emergency and Trauma ward in TMCH and OG ICU in RMH are being attended by anaesthesiologists. All the critical patients on ventilator in both the hospitals are supervised by our anaesthesiologists.
The Super speciality block under PMSSY houses five state of art high end theatres, cath labs along with a 90 bedded ICU and a skill lab. High end equipments like hemodynamic monitor, patient control are being regularly used.
