The Dermatology Department at Thanjavur Medical College is a renowned center for skin care and treatment in the Delta districts serving poor people. The Dermatology Department at Thanjavur Medical College is a vital part of the institution, providing comprehensive skin care services to patients from Thanjavur and surrounding areas. The department is committed to delivering high-quality patient care, education, and research. The department is well-equipped with modern infrastructure, including outpatient and inpatient facilities, minor operation theatre. The department also has a phototherapy unit, laser treatment facility, and a patch test clinic.

The Dermatology Department offers a wide range of services, including:

  • Outpatient consultations for skin, hair, and nail disorders.
  • Inpatient care for severe skin conditions requiring hospitalization.
  • Surgical procedures for moles and other skin lesions.
  • Major dermatological surgeries such as vitiligo grafting, keloid removal surgery and nail surgeries were done.
  • Cosmetic dermatology services, including chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and laser hair removal
  • Leprosy services, including diagnosis, treatment. Prevention of disability camps being conducted in our department for Hansen’s patients.
  • Integrated sexually transmitted infection clinic and counselling centre.

The department has a team of experienced faculty members and staff, including professors, associate professors, assistant professors, and postgraduate students. The faculty members are renowned experts in their field and are involved in teaching, research, and patient The department is actively involved in research activities, including clinical trials, observational studies, and basic research.
