Department of urology

The Department of Urology works from 1974 in Thanjavur Medical College and has qualified and experienced faculties who were trained in various leading medical colleges and has vast experience in teaching and academic activities. Urology department evolved gradually in Thanjavur medical college now expanded in doing most of the advanced surgeries like endoscopic surgeries, percutaneous surgeries, laparoscopic surgeries,, ESWL ,established renal transplant centre , etc. we teach postgraduates in gaining adequate knowledge in urology.

Our department works 24 hours and take care of around 1500 outpatients and around 500 inpatients every month. We take theory classes for undergraduates and post graduates. We have conducted Tamilnadu state conference in 2022 and our faculties actively participate in state, national conferences and conduct regular CME programme
